Meet our Teachers
JULIA LUO
Julia Luo is a teacher and founding director of Sydney Guyun Guzheng Arts Academy. She is also an examiner of the guzheng grading examination system of the Chinese Conservatory of Music. She currently serves as Chinese Music Ensemble, University of Sydney Conservatory of Music Zheng tutor while completing her Bachelor of Music majoring in Historical Performance (zheng) at Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
She teaches private class, large class, ensemble/performance class and so on fluently in both Chinese and English. She has more than 7 years of experience in teaching guzheng and has taught more than 100 students from 4 to 81 years old. The teaching method is flexible and varied, and the ability to adapt to changes is strong, according to the age, personality and interest of students. The basic skills of the guzheng are strictly required, and the classroom atmosphere is active and not boring. High requirements for students, high quality, high standards as her teaching objectives. She is careful and responsible to every student, good at exploring their potential, and mainly encourages students to cultivate their interest in guzheng and motivation to learn it.
She has performed at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney city Town Hall,CCTV,SBS,ABC and other large-scale well-known stages and TV programs.
LUCY FENG
Lucy Feng, a professional guzheng teacher from a guzheng academy in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province of China. She has been teaching guzheng for more than 20 years. For adults, she teaches with a hobby in mind, and teaches step by step. For children, she teaches from the basic skills, and teaches each technique patiently and carefully. Whether adults or children, she can teach according to the students’ character and can make them interested in guzheng in a short time. She is very popular among the students.
SYLVIA WANG
Sylvia began to learn the guzheng at the age of seven, and successively obtained the Shanghai Musicians Association Guzheng Level 10 Certificate and the China Conservatory of Music Standard Level Teacher Certificate. She was a member of the school’s folk orchestra in middle school. She took the Chinese Music ensemble course as an elective course at the University of Sydney. She also participated in many performances at Guyun Guzheng Arts Academy and has rich performance experience. She is patient and responsible to students when teaching, and carefully guides them to play the guzheng skills.
CHERR WENG
Cherr is a Bachelor of Secondary Education student and a member of the Chinese Music Ensemble at University of Sydney with sufficient teaching experiences as a tutor. She loves guzheng and has participated in many performances, such as performing at the Sydney Opera House with other students of Guyun Guzheng Academy in 2019.
Cherr can deliver classes fluently in Chinese and English and is patient, warm-hearted, responsible, optimistic, and easy going. Her passion for education has allowed her to integrate her qualities and ways of teaching in aiming to create a comfortable learning environment. She is able to adjust to each student’s needs, which greatly improved the quality of education. This teaching style of hers is significantly recognised and loved by all students.
